WILSHERE MIGHT PLAY
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said that there is the possibility that Jack Wilshere could play in the Euro 2012, but only if he is fit and ready by the time the competition kicks off. The Euro 2012 is one among the major competitions for international teams.
Jack Wilshere was hoping to make it into the competition as a replacement for Frank Lampard, who did not manage to convince former England manager Fabio Capello. Wilshere has been one of the bright young prospects for England in recent times. Fabio Capello, while on England duty, suggested that taking Wilshere to Euro 2012 will provide him with great experience for the upcoming tournaments in the future.
However, the young England midfielder managed to suffer an injury during the early part of the season, which has kept him out of the first-team reckoning up until now. He was initially expected to come back during February, but he suffered a setback in his rehabilitation. As a result, Wilshere has been all but ruled out until the end of the season. When asked about the possibility of his star midfielder playing at the Euro 2012, Wenger said that he would allow England to call up Wilshere only is he is properly set and ready to play first-team action.
“The next three weeks will decide how well he progresses. We have gone for a very cautious attitude with him. He is an England player – if he has played some games before the end of the season then the Euros are a possibility. If he has not played at all before the end of the season, I don’t think it’s realistic. I will only intervene if I believe medically he is at risk,” Wenger said. Abou Diaby is expected to return to Arsenal first-team action soon.
WILSHERE CAN'T WAIT
Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has said that he is looking to return to first-team action by January. Jack Wilshere has been out of the first team action for quite some time now after injuring his ankle. He underwent ankle surgery recently and has been making a lot of progress in terms of recuperation. Initially, Arsenal struggled without the services of their creative midfielder.
The loss of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri particularly heightened the need for Jack Wilshere within the team, but the arrival of Mikel Arteta seems to have softened blow for Arsenal. Still, Jack Wilshere remains extremely crucial to the Arsenal play, and the England midfielder is hoping to return to action by January.
"It's coming along well, I'm working hard in the gym every day and feel I'm in good hands at Arsenal. We've had a few injured at Arsenal in recent years, like Aaron Ramsey but they are helping me through it. I can't put a specific date on it, but some time in January I'm hoping for if all goes well," Wilshere told sky sports regarding his return to first-team action. After the initial blow to Jack Wilshere, Arsenal struggled extremely both in the League and in the Champions League. However, they have since recovered to become a major threat to Chelsea and Liverpool for the Champions League qualification spots.
There is even an outside chance that they may finish within the reach of Manchester United, who trounced them 8-2 earlier on in the season. One of the main reasons for their revival has been Robin van Persie, but Arsenal do know that they cannot rely on their injury prone striker for a long time. The return of Jack Wilshere to the first-team fold will be a major boost for Arsene Wenger.
