Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger feels that a loan spell away from the Emirates Stadium would be a great help to Jack Wilshere's development as a player.
The 17-year-old has been linked with a temporary switch to Burnley, and Wenger is said to be seriously thinking about letting the midfielder go to Turf Moor.
Wenger wants a guarantee that Wilshere would play before he sanctions the loan, but he thinks that it could work out in a similarly positive way to Ashley Cole's loan from the Gunners to Crystal Palace 10 years ago.
"[A loan spell] is like a finishing school. It is what we call a post-education experience," Wenger explained to his club's official website. "The spell at Palace really gave Ashley the needed confidence and convinced everybody that he could play at the top level because he adapted straight away. Ten years later you think it was not a coincidence."
